“ The food was good- we got street tacos (beef & chicken) and chicken burrito along with chips & pico. With drinks, it was 25. Good price, good food, hearty servings. Friendly, accommodating service. When we left there was a line of 10 people ordering food. We were a bit ambivalent as this is take-out from a gas station- but it was worth the stop. There are tables to eat outside. Thanks! ”
“ We pulled off the Cordes Lakes exit for a bathroom break. We just happen to see El Gordo nearby inside a gas station. It looked authentic, so we had to give it a shot. They were pretty busy with a couple people in front of us. We ordered the chicken, steak, and pork street tacos. They came with guacamole on top! Their tacos were some of the best, most flavorful tacos we had while visiting Arizona. The only regret we have is not ordering more!! ”

Hands down the best value-for-money Mexican food on the route. The food is incredibly delicious, the portion sizes are huge, and the staff are genuinely kind and welcoming. A special shoutout to Alexis at the counter — he was amazing! I’m a pretty picky eater and mostly just eat chicken, but Alexis patiently helped me find the perfect dish. His friendly guidance made all the difference, and the meal he recommended was absolutely spot-on. They were also super generous with extra salsa, lemon, and ranch, which is something you don’t see everywhere. It’s rare to find great food and great people in one place, but this spot has both. Highly recommend it to anyone traveling on I-17. This place is now a permanent stop on my route! ”
